Kagdi Pick Up Weir is on the Ratlam road, roughly three kilometres from Banswara town, and it is the closest thing on this list to the hotel — about ten minutes by road.

It is part of the Mahi project’s water works, but what draws people is the garden that has grown up around it: laid-out lawns, fountains, and channels of water running through planting. In the evening it fills up with families from town.

Why it’s worth the short trip

If you have one free hour in Banswara, this is what to do with it. It requires no planning, costs almost nothing, and it is genuinely pleasant rather than merely convenient.

Go in the late afternoon. The fountains and the light are both better, and it is cooler.

What to expect

This is a municipal-style garden rather than a manicured park, and it is busiest at weekends and on holidays. There are usually vendors selling snacks and cold drinks near the entrance. Facilities are basic.

Getting there

Ten minutes from Udaipur Road. Any auto will take you for a small fare, and it is close enough that getting back is never a problem. If you are combining it with Mahi Dam, do Kagdi second on the way home — the dam deserves the better light.
